BTOB's Lee Chang Sub revealed that he suffered financial losses of approximately 110 million KRW due to alleged fraud at the music academy he runs in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.

In a video uploaded on May 22, 2026, to the YouTube channel "Lee Chang Sub & Jeo Chang Sub," he recounted his bitter experience. In the video, Lee Chang Sub shares his story from working at a law firm, stating, "There's someone I'd like to ask for help with," before explaining his own case.

He explains that the former interim CEO he entrusted with managing the academy was suspected of failing to pay employee salaries and using company funds without permission.

"I was scammed at the academy. They cleverly exploited the law," Lee Chang Sub said. He added, "I had to pay several hundred million KRW more to cover the money the person didn't pay." The total reported loss was approximately 110 million KRW.

Lee Chang Sub also revealed that the person signed a loan agreement promising to repay the loan and even stamped it with his fingerprint. However, he added, "He only sent 1 million KRW in the first month and hasn't contacted me since."

A lawyer who was present with him explained the legal issue by saying, "If someone who manages funds uses public money without permission, it legally falls under the category of embezzlement." The lawyer also stated, "Even if the money is returned later, the crime that has already occurred will not disappear."

Hearing this, Lee Chang Sub asked, "So there is still a crime?" When the lawyer answered yes, he showed a bitter expression. Meanwhile, Lee Chang Sub remains active as the main vocalist of BTOB and continues to work in solo music, musicals, and variety programs.
