Two SEVENTEEN members, Vernon and The8, have officially formed a new unit called "V8." The unit will debut with their first album on June 29, 2026, and will reportedly hold a series of concerts in South Korea and Hong Kong.
The announcement was made by PLEDIS Entertainment on May 28, 2026. The presence of V8 immediately caught the attention of fans because it brought together two members who are known to have strong musical characters and creativity in the group.
The name V8 is a combination of the letter "V" belonging to Vernon and the number "8" which is synonymous with The8. Reported from Soompi, the name is also inspired by the V8 engine which is known to have great power and strong acceleration, Beauties.
This meaning reflects the energy, passion, and creative drive that Vernon and The8 possess as a new unit. Prior to their official debut, the two also invited fans to participate in the "V8 HUNT" challenge, which involved finding and sharing photos of "V8" written on them in everyday life.
While album details are still under wraps, the project has already piqued the interest of many fans. Vernon and The8 are not only idols but also known for their active involvement in the creative process of their music.
Vernon has contributed to the songwriting and production of SEVENTEEN's various works. He is even a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association and has served as a voting member of the Recording Academy, which oversees the Grammy Awards.
Meanwhile, The8 has showcased his musical talents through his Mandarin-language solo EP, "Stardust," and several other solo songs. Vernon also co-wrote and composed the project's title track.
After the album is released, V8 will immediately continue their activities through a concert entitled 2026 VERNON THE 8 [V8] LIVE. The first concert will be held in Goyang, South Korea, on July 11 and 12, 2026.
After that, they will greet fans in Hong Kong on July 18 and 19, 2026. This collaboration feels special because Vernon and The8 come from different units in SEVENTEEN.
Vernon is part of the Hip-Hop Unit, while The8 is part of the Performance Unit. Their combination of rapping, music production, vocals, and stage performance has many fans eagerly awaiting V8's official debut.
