Kim Soo Hyun is getting closer to resolving his legal dispute as one of the advertisers suing him, Eider, has reduced the amount of damages they are seeking. In a hearing at the Seoul Central District Court, Eider initially demanded 2.5 billion won claiming that the controversy involving Kim Soo Hyun has damaged their brand image.
However, the demand has now been adjusted to 400 million won after Eider withdrew its demand for damages for reputational damages. The remaining lawsuit focuses on the return of endorsement fees after Kim Soo Hyun's contract was terminated early.
During the hearing, the judge questioned whether the revised lawsuit should proceed. He noted that both Eider and Kim Soo Hyun were victims of false information allegedly spread by Kim Se Eui, who is now on trial for defamation.
The court also noted that Kim Soo Hyun is reportedly in talks to resolve similar disputes with other advertisers and is encouraging both parties to reach a settlement. Kim Soo Hyun is currently facing lawsuits from various brands, seeking total damages of approximately 10 billion won.
The outcome of the Eider case could impact negotiations with other advertisers. The next hearing is scheduled for August 26, 2026. If the two sides can reach a settlement, it could be a significant turning point in the litigation surrounding the controversy.
