Meghan Markle has spoken out after her father, Thomas Markle Sr., was implicated in allegations of possessing child pornography. Prince Harry's wife expressed her shock and concern for the children who may have been victims.

"I am devastated by the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours. My thoughts are with the children who may have been affected," Meghan said, as quoted by People.

Meghan also revealed that she had been aware of the allegations against her father since 2018. At that time, a letter was sent to the Metropolitan Police and the Royalty and Specialist Protection unit before finally being forwarded to her.

"The letter contains disturbing and disturbing allegations about my father. I have been assured that these allegations are being investigated," Meghan said. However, the full contents of the letter have not been made public.

The Metropolitan Police later confirmed that they received a letter containing allegations in January 2019. Police stated that the letter was forwarded to Meghan's family for their information, but the details of the allegations were not shared with other law enforcement agencies.

In her statement, Meghan also touched on her strained relationship with Thomas. She hoped the public would understand the reasons behind her decision not to allow her father to meet Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

"I hope people now understand that, despite years of media coverage that have misrepresented the situation, my decision to distance myself from my father and not allow him to see our children was for one reason only: to protect them," she said.

Meghan said she believed authorities were also working to protect other families. She also hoped the legal process would proceed smoothly and that the safety of the children would remain a priority.

"While the scale of what is now unfolding is far more horrific than anyone could have imagined, my greatest hope is that justice will be fully served and that the safety and protection of innocent children remains a priority," Meghan said.
