V BTS is again breaking records on Spotify. On Saturday July 16, 2022, a South Korean news website, Allkpop reported that Kim Taehyung , aka BTS 's V , has now surpassed over 500 million accumulated streams on his official profile on Spotify, one of the largest streaming sites in the world.
BTS 's V managed to achieve this even before officially releasing his solo debut album and with only three K-drama OSTs credited to his name, namely 'Christmas Tree' 'Sweet Night,' and 'It's Definitely You.' 'Christmas Tree' is an OST for the drama 'Our Beloved Summer', starring Choi Woo Shik as Choi Woong, and Kim Da Mi as Guk Yeon Soo. The two dated for five years during high school, then broke up.
'Our Beloved Summer' has a sweet story that revolves around first love, and the OST 'Christmas Tree' sung by V BTS is perfect for this drama. His very melodious voice gives a deeper sensation when watching the drama. Then 'Sweet Night' was made the official OST for the drama 'Itaewon Class.' The drama tells the story of a group of young people who work together to challenge injustice.
In an interview with Naver, V expressed how he felt about being able to participate in the OST for the drama 'Itaewon Class.' He said, “I'm grateful to be able to take part in such an amazing drama with a song I composed myself.” Meanwhile, 'It's Definitely You' is the OST for the drama 'Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth.'
This drama tells the story of a group of elite youths in Silla. V also debuted as an actor in the drama. Many people refer to BTS's V as the OST King, and it seems that the nickname is well-deserved for him because he currently holds the record for the only Korean soloist to have 3 OSTs surpassing 100 million streams on Spotify.
His latest OST, "Christmas Tree" also became the highest-charting solo song by a Korean male artist on the Circle Chart, (formerly known as Gaon Chart) ranking at #58.
