LABOUM debuted as a 6-member girl group in 2014. Now, they are rumored to be disbanding. The news was first delivered by Star News. LABOUM is said to be disbanding around the end of August or early September 2022. This is because the agency that oversees LABOUM, Interpark Music Plus, has been acquired by Yanolja.
Yanolja is known as a software company known for its travel and hospitality service applications. According to reports, Yanolja is said to have no plans to continue managing LABOUM as a group. This news is certainly very surprising to the public, considering that they have just extended their contract in 2021. LABOUM debuted in August 2014 with the single album Pit-A-Pat.
The origin of the name LABOUM itself is taken from the French term which means party. LABOUM started a career with not easy. They just won their first win on a music show in 2017, 3 years after officially debuting. Their first victory became a controversy because they managed to beat IU who is known to be the most popular female soloist in South Korea.
Their victory raised the issue of fraud which was immediately denied by management. On November 3, 2017, LABOUM lost one of its members. Yulhee chose to leave the group before finally deciding to marry FTISLAND's Minhwan. LABOUM ended up having to go foursome when Yujeong, the leader, decided not to renew his contract with the agency.
Even though they had to walk without a leader, the four members still released a comeback on November 3, 2021 through Blossom. This comeback was LABOUM's last comeback before rumors emerged that it would be disbanded. However, until now, there has been no confirmation whatsoever from Interpark Music Plus or Yanolja regarding this news.
