2022 is the final year of iKON's contract with YG Entertainment. They also decided not to renew the contract with management. This news was delivered directly by YG Entertainment through a statement released. Kim Jin Hwan, Bobby, Song Yun Hyeong, Koo Jun Hoe, Donghyuk, and Chanwoo decided to leave management.
"After long and careful discussions, iKON (Kim Jin Hwan, Bobby, Song Yun Hyeong, Koo Jun Hoe, Donghyuk, and Chanwoo) and we have agreed to terminate the exclusive contract and respect each other's opinions," said YG Entertainment. "We want to express our gratitude to iKON for being with us as YG artists.
YG Entertainment will always look forward to the activities of the members in various different fields and wish them all the best," he continued. At the end of the statement, YG Entertainment also thanked the fans who had supported iKON so far. "We also want to thank iKONIC for accompanying iKON on their journey," added YG Entertainment.
"We hope that fans will continue to provide support to all iKON members who will start a new journey. Thank you," he concluded. iKON debuted in 2015 with the pre-release single My Type. The song received a very good response from the public, even topping the Korean charts for several months.
Reported by a number of Korean media, currently iKON members are discussing future promotion plans. One of them is by finding an agency for the personal activities of each member, to form their own label for promotion as a group.
