Adapted from allkpop, on Wednesday February 1, 2023 local time, the KAIST Development Foundation stated on its official website that Lee Seung Gi promised to make a donation to KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology). It is said that the actor has promised to donate 300 million won which will be used for the development of science and technology in South Korea.
He is scheduled to attend the KAIST development fund agreement ceremony which will be held at the KAIST campus on February 3, 2023. Previously, on December 16, 2022, the actor Kim Jung Ho in the drama 'The Law Café' had indeed promised to donate all the money he received from Hook Entertainment, amounting to 5 billion won or the equivalent of Rp. 60.8 billion, through his social media.
To keep his promise, Soompi reported that on December 29, Lee Seung Gi actually donated around 2 billion won (Rp 24.3 billion) to Seoul National University Children's Hospital with the aim of improving medical facilities. The hospital even revealed that Lee Seung Gi visited the hospital in person.
Meanwhile, on January 13 2023, the singer of 'The Ordinary Man' also donated 550 million won (Rp. 6.7 billion) to the Korean Red Cross. The donation will be used to fund mobile food trucks and produce buses for blood drives in support of disaster relief efforts.
After making a donation to the Korean Red Cross, Lee Seung Gi wrote down the reasons for donating on his personal Instagram page. According to the former Hook Entertainment artist, it was his concern over the sudden disaster that prompted him to make a donation. He wrote, "Disaster situations, as well as emergency situations, can happen to anyone.
I hope my donation will at least help my brothers and sisters who are suffering from disasters and illness." The actor also wrote, "I want to provide practical assistance in this disaster situation. I think it will be better if I can serve hot food to people in need. That's how I learned about mobile food trucks.
They are the fastest service after the fire department and (can) take care of food for 50,000 people." With his most recent donation to KAIST, in total Lee Seung Gi donated a total of 2.85 billion won (Rp. 34 billion) after winning his lawsuit against Hook Entertainment.
