NCT's Mark officially released his second solo song titled 'Golden Hour' through the 'STATION: NCT LAB ' project today on Friday April 7, 2023, at exactly 18.00 KST. Quoting from the SMTOWN YouTube channel, the music video for the song 'Golden Hour' is presented in a unique concept and style, with the main concept of fried eggs as inspiration.
The music video, which is about three minutes and twenty seconds long, opens with a falling egg icon. Then Mark, who appeared in a swag style, was choosing a menu at a restaurant. Overall, the music video for the song 'Golden Hour' is displayed in a concept that does not far describe NCT's Mark, with all the swag that he had when he appeared as a rapper who was cool and full of creativity.
However, behind all that, Mark is not a perfect person because he has a weakness, namely not being able to fry eggs properly. Despite that, he felt confident and wasn't afraid that he would starve or the world would end if he couldn't fry an egg. In the chorus of the song, he deliberately mentions the name Gordon Ramsay, who has been the inspiration for the song 'Golden Hour' itself.
Not only that, Mark also pinned the lyrics to how good standard fried eggs are made, referring to how he went viral when he failed to fry eggs until he was reprimanded by Gordon Ramsay. Throughout the video Mark displays an aggressive rap flow and a confident attitude. Scenes of him being hostile to fried eggs are also shown throughout the video.
The concept of comical characters such as a human with a caricature head who is present throughout the video and becomes Mark's partner in crime adds to the cool concept of the video for the song 'Golden Hour'. At the end of the video, Mark shows a serious scene where he is trying to break the eggs well. Not to forget, he delivered a slogan or life motto in the style of Mark, which he himself was sometimes confused about how to interpret it.
Not only featuring a unique concept for the music video, the song 'Golden Hour' also presents super cool and uplifting music. The intense sound of guitar strumming, as well as the fast flowing rap from Mark, succeeded in evoking the confidence of anyone who listened to him. Not only that, in some parts of the song Mark displays smooth and pleasant vocals to balance the rap in this song.
