Premiering internationally on July 19, 2023, the Barbie film has now managed to earn more than US$1 billion at the global box office. Reporting from the Variety report on Sunday August 6, 203, Warner Bros. said that the film starring Margot Robbie had collected US $ 1.03 billion.

This figure was reached after three weeks or 17 days of broadcast to be exact with details of US$459 million in North America and US$572 million in international box office. With this new achievement, Barbie is in second place as a US$1 billion film after The Super Mario Bros. The film previously recorded as having pocketed US$574 million domestically and US$1.35 billion worldwide.

Greta Gerwig 's film also made the director break a record as the first solo female director to have a multibillion-dollar film. Greta Gerwig managed to beat Jennifer Lee with Chris Buck as directors of the Frozen and Frozen 2 films. There were also Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who produced the Captain Marvel films.

Warner Bros. also credited the Barbie film as a new milestone for them as it officially overtook Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 which previously earned the billion-dollar title after 19 days on air. Together with Andrew Cripps as president of international distribution, Goldstein said the box office record scored by the film Barbie greatly exceeded their own predictions.

"This is a defining moment for Barbie and no one but Greta Gerwig can bring this intergenerational icon and her world to life in a story that's funny, emotional and entertaining," they said. However, Warner Bros. and Greta Gerwig still has no plans to return to present another adventure from Barbie in the movie Barbie 2.

The Barbie film is the current film recommendation after successfully making the audience feel touched by the story of Barbie and her friends in dealing with the social problems of women around the world. Apart from Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling , Barbie also stars Emma Mackey, Dua Lipa, Simu Liu, America Ferrera and others.
