Happy news comes from the South Korean boy group, BTS, who have just officially extended their contract with Big Hit Music. This news was conveyed by Naver on Wednesday September 20, 2023 which stated that all BTS members had decided to extend their contracts.
"We have completed the board of directors' resolution to renew the exclusive contracts of seven BIGHIT Music artist members, BTS," said HYBE as the label that oversees Big Hit Music. Through this statement, Big Hit Music stated that it would sign exclusive contracts with the seven BTS members, including RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
The contract inauguration process will be carried out sequentially according to the decision of the editorial board resolution, considering that BTS' Jin and J-Hope are currently carrying out their mandatory military service. "We will sign contracts individually and sequentially taking into account the implementation of military service obligations of several members," continued HYBE.
Both Big Hit and HYBE revealed that they will fully support all BTS activities in 2025. "By re-signing the contract, we will be able to share the full BTS activities that we expect in 2025. Hybe and BigHit Music will do all possible support to further strengthen BTS's status," he explained.
This exclusive contract will begin when all BTS members have completed their mandatory military service which is planned to be completed in 2025. "Members currently serving in the military will complete their mandatory military service in 2025, when the new exclusive contract period begins," he added.
This is the second time for BTS to extend their contract with Big Hit after last doing so in 2018. BTS's contract is said to end in 2024, right when the members are completing military service. This then raised concerns from fans who are familiarly called ARMY.
However, with this news, BTS dismissed fans' fears by confirming that they will continue to work together with Big Hit and ARMY for years to come. Meanwhile, all BTS members are busy with solo projects. Recently, V released his first solo album entitled Layover.
