BLACKPINK's Jennie has just revealed her newest solo project. The news comes amidst rumors about three BLACKPINK members terminating their contracts from YG Entertainment. Jennie conveyed her soloist comeback plans in an interview with Harper's Bazaar Korea.
The K-pop idol whose real name is Kim Jennie shared that she is currently preparing to release a new song as a soloist. Jennie also said that her music was something 'unique'. "I am preparing something that only Jennie, who is most similar to Jennie, can do," he told Harper's Bazaar Korea, quoted by NME.
With this news, Jennie will again greet fans with songs outside the group since her debut single entitled "Solo" which was released in November 2018. However, Jennie also released another solo song entitled "You & Me (Moonlight)".
Jennie has performed this song during BLACKPINK's "Born Pink" world tour since 2022 even though it has not been officially released on any music streaming platform. Jennie also collaborated with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp for the song "One of the Girls" which was the soundtrack for the HBO series The Idol in which she starred earlier this year.
Recently, Jennie was one of the BLACKPINK members who was rumored not to have extended her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment. He, Jisoo and Lisa reportedly left Rose alone and took shelter at another agency. However, YG Entertainment denied these rumors by saying that they and BLACKPINK were still in the process of negotiating their contract.
Apart from that, YG Entertainment said that the agency is still discussing BLACKPINK's activities as a group for the next six months to a year. "No extension decision has been finalized at this stage, discussions are still ongoing," said YG Entertainment.
As a result of these rumors, YG Entertainment's shares fell by 13.28 percent.
