Recently, the Korean National Palace Museum reported that one of the idols from the boy group BTS, RM, donated 100 million won or the equivalent of $75,000 USD on Saturday September 16, 2023. The report was announced directly by the museum through interviews with local media.
The money donated by BTS' RM will reportedly be used to preserve and process 'Hwalot', or wedding dresses worn by royal women of the Joseon Dynasty. RM also wrote a special message regarding his aim to donate to the museum. According to him, the cultural preservation plan will be very useful for promoting South Korea's original cultures on the world stage.
"Through the Overseas Cultural Heritage Foundation, I heard that there are overseas cultural assets that need to be preserved. I think if these cultural assets are brought back to the world, this will be a good opportunity to promote our cultural excellence to the world," wrote BTS' RM.
Closing his message, RM hopes that all people in the world can enjoy the beautiful cultures of South Korea. "I hope this will be an opportunity for many people around the world to enjoy Korea's beautiful and superior traditional culture," continued the BTS leader as reported by Naver on Saturday September 16, 2023.
On a different occasion, the Korean National Palace Museum will present a special exhibition "Hwalot in Full Bloom of Joseon Royal Women's Wedding Clothes" until December 13, 2023. The owner of the real name Kim Namjoon has long been known as an art lover.
This can be seen directly through his personal Instagram account, which often uploads a number of works of art at various famous museums and exhibitions that he visits. Through his love, RM was even awarded an award from the Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) of the South Korean government.
The 29 year old man is considered capable of contributing to the preservation and restoration of Korean cultural artifacts. Meanwhile, previously RM had also donated 100 million won to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea.
