Before the incident took place, Justin Bieber initially also uploaded a statement regarding the ongoing conflict between the Hamas military and Israel. In an article also posted on his Instagram Story, Justin Bieber stated that he did not choose a particular side in the war which has claimed many innocent victims.

"Absolutely painful for my Israeli and Palestinian friends. I'm pretty sure we all instinctively know evil when we see it," wrote Justin Bieber. "To me, demonizing all Palestinians or all Israelis seems wrong. I'm not interested in choosing sides, but I am interested in standing with the families who have been brutally taken from us."
