SHINee's Taemin will reportedly end his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment after being under the agency for 16 years. Quoting from Allkpop on Tuesday March 5, 2024, Taemin will complete his contract at the end of March.
It is known that Taemin has renewed his contract several times over the years since debuting as a member of SHINee in 2008. A media outlet also reported that Taemin will be joining BPM Entertainment after leaving SM Entertainment. BPM Entertainment is the agency that oversees VIVIZ.
This agency also became a topic of conversation because it reportedly attracted Chen, Xiumin and Baekhyun in 2023. When Taemin's exclusive contract ended, he was ready to start a new chapter in his career as a singer under a different agency. However, SHINee is expected to continue working with SM Entertainment for group activities.
Since his debut with SHINee, Taemin has earned his own place in the hearts of K-Pop fans. He is also a member of the supergroup SuperM, and earned the nickname from the media as "Idol's idol", which means that many K-Pop idols use Taemin as their source of inspiration.
Taemin is known for his distinctive and intricate dancing style, and often incorporates elements of contemporary dance into his song choreography. Apart from his elaborate dances, Taemin's style and fashion sense are also very unique, especially in the single "Move" released in 2017.
Taemin's performance has earned him recognition as a pioneer of the genderless appearance trend among male K-Pop idols. Taemin debuted as a soloist in 2014 with the release of his first mini album entitled "Ace". The album achieved success by topping the Gaon Album Chart, and the main song "Danger" occupied fifth position on the Gaon Digital Chart.
In 2016, Taemin debuted as a solo singer in Japan with his second mini album, "Sayonara Hitori", adding to his long list of musical diversity. Meanwhile, on February 20, the Asia Star Entertainment Awards revealed that Taemin had joined the lineup of performers for the awards ceremony.
The event will be held at the K-Arena in Yokohama, Japan, on April 10, 2024. Now, fans hope that Taemin will be more free to express himself and produce extraordinary works, as well as finding an agency that provides full support.
