South Korean actor, Song Kang, uploaded an open letter to fans ahead of his mandatory military departure on April 2, 2024. The letter was written to Song Kang fans who are familiarly called Songpyeon. The actor in the drama Sweet Home began his letter with the news that he would soon be serving in the military.

Continuing his letter, Song Kang did not forget to express his gratitude regarding fans' support since making his debut in the world of South Korean cinema in 2017. "As you have seen in the news articles, I finally left (for military service)!" wrote Song Kang, reported by Star News via Naver on Monday April 1, 2024.

"Songpyeon who has loved me since debuting in 2017 and even after that, I feel like I can be like this now because you are always there," he continued. In the letter, the 29 year old actor recalled a number of precious moments with fans since starting his career.

Song Kang spends a lot of time with fans, starting from celebrating his birthday, fan meetings, and a number of other events. He then began discussing his mandatory military departure schedule. Song Kang said he had to temporarily separate from fans to carry out his national duties. 

Song Kang believes that time will pass quickly so he can meet his fans again soon. "I won't be by your side for a while, but time will pass so quickly," said Song Kang. "I hope to meet you again later with a heart full of gratitude and health. When the time comes, I hope to see you happier than now," he continued.

Song Kang also expressed his desire to start learning a new language while serving in the military. Closing his letter, the actor from the drama My Demon promised to return soon happy and healthy.  "I will come back healthy, safe and happy! I love Songpyeon!" he closed. 

Song Kang's mandatory military service is predicted to end in October 2025. Song Kang's name began to rise after starring in a series of hit Korean dramas on Netflix, such as Love Alarm (2019-2021), to Sweet Home (2020-2024).
