SM Entertainment has raised its voice to discuss rumors that NCT's Johnny and Haechan were involved in prostitution and drug cases. SM Entertainment as the agency that oversees NCT has denied the rumors that happened to its two artists.
SM Entertainment will also take firm action against the parties who caused the chaos by taking legal action. "Currently, rumors about Johnny and Haechan's involvement in prostitution, drugs and other indecent content continue to be created and spread online," wrote the agency, quoted on Wednesday June 5, 2024.
"After verifying the facts, these accusations are completely untrue, and (this rumor) is a criminal act that seriously tarnishes the good name of our artists," continued SM Entertainment. Continuing its statement, the agency also dragged the name of one of the Super Junior members, Kim Heechul, who was also involved in this rumor.
"In addition, malicious rumors and slander have been continuously spread about NCT and our other artists, including Heechul. We have gathered enough evidence about these posts and we will not sit idly by and do nothing. We will take action against the perpetrators who spread the rumors these will be punished without leniency or redress, regardless of their nationality."
Meanwhile, Heechul had already opened his voice regarding the rumors that dragged his name. The rumors started on an X (or Twitter) account @kira_ceo_main which posted a number of photos allegedly of Johnny and Haechan in Japan.
The account continued to write tweets claiming that the NCT member was at a hotel in Tokyo bringing several fans to stay. He even clearly mentioned the names NCT's Johnny and Haechan by revealing that the two of them met five people and three Japanese women who he claimed were "actresses" and barmaids.
The news became busy and noisy on social media until a number of fans looked for the person behind the account owner who spread the rumors. Netizens suspected that the account owner was a stalker of NCT members and found that the rumors were not true.
