Amazon Prime Video will launch a live-action TV series adapted from the popular video game titled Like a Dragon: Yakuza. This series will tell the adventures of the main character, Kazuma Kiryu, in two different time periods, namely 1995 and 2005. There are a total of six episodes in this series.
Adapting a report from Variety on Wednesday June 5, 2024, the series Like a Dragon: Yakuza was directed by directors Masaharu Take and Takimoto Kengo. Handsome actor Ryoma Takeuchi was cast as the main character. Ryoma Takeuchi has starred in a number of television dramas and films.
For those of you who watched Kamen Rider Drive, you are definitely familiar with this actor who appears as Shinnosuke Tomari. The release of the Like a Dragon: Yakuza series will be divided into two parts. The first part consisting of three episodes will air on October 25, 2024.
After that, the second part with the next three episodes will follow on November 1, 2024. Text and audio translations are available in 30 different languages. Because the story takes place in two different time periods, namely 1995 and 2005, each part consisting of three episodes will likely follow Kiryu's life in these different periods.
According to reports circulating, the story Like a Dragon: Yakuza will be set in Kamurocho, a fictional entertainment district in Japan which is also the main setting in the Yakuza franchise. Prime Video stated that this series will feature modern Japan and dramatic stories from its characters. Moreover, Kazuma Kiryu is a legendary figure in the gaming world who has not been explored in depth regarding his origin story.
Yakuza is a video game franchise developed and launched by SEGA. This game series was first released in 2005 and has become one of the most popular games .Yakuza has also been adapted into films entitled Like a Dragon: Prologue and Like a Dragon (2007). South Korean actor, Gong Yoo, also plays Park in the film Like a Dragon.
