ITZY's Lia announced that she will return to activities with the group ITZY after deciding to go on hiatus for 10 months due to health problems. News of the musician's return was also confirmed by JYP Entertainment as the agency on Monday July 8, 2024 KST evening.

Through its statement, the agency has held discussions with Lia regarding her health condition which has improved so that it was decided that Lia could return to activities with other ITZY members. "After treatment and rest, her tension and anxiety symptoms have improved significantly.

Therefore, after careful discussion with Lia, it has been decided that she will resume her activities starting with ITZY's new album, which will be released in the second half of this year," said JYP Entertainment, as reported by Soompi on Tuesday July 9, 2024.

Lia is confirmed to be joining ITZY's latest comeback. However, the agency said in its statement that the schedule and photoshoot for the new album had been arranged in advance and only featured four ITZY members, namely Yeji, Ryu-jin, Chae-ryeong, and Yu-na.

The agency asked for the understanding of fans who are familiarly called MIDZY regarding this decision. "We sincerely thank the fans who have shown warm encouragement and support for Lia's recovery," the agency continued.

"We remain committed to supporting our artists so they can meet their fans in good health. Thank you." On the same day before the statement was released, all ITZY members held a live broadcast to celebrate their fan club's anniversary, where the event was also attended by Lia and was her first appearance after hiatus.

News of Lia's hiatus was first announced on September 18, 2023 through an official statement released by JYP Entertainment. Lia had to undergo a check-up because she experienced extreme tension and anxiety during group activities. As a result, Lia was decided to take a break and undergo medical treatment.

"With the artist's health as our top priority, after careful discussion with the members, we have decided that Lia will not participate in scheduled activities starting today and will take a break to focus on her treatment," JYP Entertainment wrote on September 18, 2023.
