Koo Kyo Hwan was recently cast to star in the second season of the Korean drama ' Signal '. Quoting from Soompi on Monday July 22, 2024, Koo Kyo Hwan reportedly received the script and is currently reviewing it. In response to the reports, Koo Kyo Hwan's agency, Namoo Actors, confirmed that the actor has received the offer and is currently considering it.

A sequel to tvN's hit drama 'Signal' was officially announced to be in production earlier this year, following the success of its first season which was released in 2016. 'Signal' tells the story of a detective from the future named Park Hae Young (played by Lee Je Hoon ) and a detective from the past, Lee Jae Han (played by Cho Jin Woong) who are connected to each other through a mysterious walkie-talkie.

The two are connected and work together to solve unsolved cases. 'Signal' is written by Kim Eun Hee, a scriptwriter known for works such as 'Jirisan', 'Kingdom', 'Revenant', 'Phantom', '3 Days', and many more. The first season of the drama was very popular and received a lot of praise for its interesting storyline and strong performances from its cast, including Lee Je Hoon, Jo Jin Woong, and Kim Hye Soo.

In addition, the criminal case told in this drama was inspired by a real incident that occurred in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea for six years, namely from 1986 to 1991, where 10 women were raped and murdered within a 2 kilometer radius, ranging from a 71-year-old grandmother to a 13-year-old schoolgirl.

If Koo Kyo Hwan accepts the offer to play a role in 'Signal' season 2, he will be acting again with Lee Je Hoon, who previously collaborated on the latest film 'Escape'. Meanwhile, Koo Kyo Hwan has captivated viewers through his acting in various works, including 'DP', 'Kill Boksoon', 'Escape from Mogadishu', 'Peninsula', 'Parasite: The Grey', and many more. In addition to 'Escape', Koo Kyo Hwan's new film planned for release this year is 'Seeking the King'.
