Actor Park Sung Hoon recently received heavy criticism regarding his latest collaboration with Burger King. Following the success of the Korean dramas 'Queen of Tears' and 'The Glory' which made his name famous, Park Sung Hoon received many offers for new projects, including advertising collaborations with famous brands.

On July 1, 2024, the actor announced his collaboration with fast food chain Burger King. Park Sung Hoon made the announcement through an Instagram video, captioning it " Coming Soon " and showing off his acting skills in the clip.

Although the actor's deep voice is very charming, many fans are disappointed because Burger King is one of the brands included in the BDS boycott list in support of the pro-Palestine movement.

Quoting from KpopStarz, the Israeli Burger King franchise chain provided free food to the Israeli military when they carried out deadly attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. Park Sung Hoon's uploaded video was flooded with disappointed comments from fans and urged him to respect the boycott of the brand.

“ Sorry Oppa, I can’t follow you anymore, you choose them, I choose Palestine, ” wrote one fan. " I wanted to say I love you but you let me down, " said another fan. " You contributed to the murder of those children. You have been hated, " another fan chimed in.

The criticism spread not only on Instagram, but also to other social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter). Some claim that the brands on the boycott list are specifically targeting the Korean entertainment industry, given the militant fan base of K-pop and Korean dramas. Some time ago, boy group NCT also received heavy criticism for collaborating with Starbucks.

Recently, aespa also disappointed fans after announcing a collaboration with McDonald's Japan and openly promoting their latest item. Fans feel that entertainment agencies in Korea do not care about humanitarian issues happening in other parts of the world and only think about personal gain.
