Gong Yoo's side has issued an official statement regarding the guilty verdict against the perpetrator who spread false information and malicious comments against the South Korean actor. On July 29, 2025, Gong Yoo's agency, Management Soop, announced via their official social media accounts.
"We would like to inform you that the perpetrator who has been repeatedly spreading slander and false information against Gong Yoo since 2020 has been found guilty by the Daejeon District Court. The sentence is 6 months in prison with 2 years of probation."
The agency explained that the perpetrator, identified as A (48 years old), had posted writings and comments containing lies on various internet sites, causing serious damage to Gong Yoo's reputation. "The court recognized the malicious nature and severity of the acts, thus issuing a guilty verdict," Management Soop added.
Furthermore, the agency emphasized that they continue to monitor activities that harm their artists. "We consistently monitor malicious content and will deal firmly with any violations. For ongoing or future cases, we will not offer leniency or compromise," they asserted.
According to reports, on July 29, 2025, the Daejeon District Court sentenced A for violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation). It is known that between 2020 and 2021, A repeatedly posted false claims that Gong Yoo was constantly monitoring or harassing him.
