Actor and singer Rain recently revealed the challenges he faced while starring in the new Korean drama ' Red Swan '. In this drama, Rain plays the character Seo Do Yoon, a bodyguard who works for the conglomerate family Hwain Group. He is a martial arts expert and is a graduate of the police academy.
Emphasizing the importance of conveying emotions through his eyes, Rain revealed the challenge of expressing deep feelings without words in intense situations on screen. "I wanted the action scenes to look cool, so I had a lot of conversations with the martial arts director. I paid a lot of attention to these aspects during filming," Rain said as quoted by KdramaStars on Wednesday July 3, 2024.
He added, "Rather than doing a lot of cuts, we aimed for a long take to show the entire action scene. I haven't seen the final result yet, so I'm looking forward to it." To maintain the authenticity of his appearance, Rain revealed a unique preparation method.
He fasts the night before or runs for 30 minutes before filming to prevent his eyes from swelling because he has a naturally narrow and small eye shape. "It was very challenging. When you're sad, you have to show sadness. When you're lonely, you have to show loneliness, but I couldn't use words and had to convey everything with my eyes. It was difficult," said Rain.
Rain's commitment to his craft and attention to detail in portraying Seo Do Yoon's emotions without words shows his dedication to his role in the drama. Meanwhile, 'Red Swan' is about the dark secret of the Hwain Group conglomerate family, while also telling the fate of Oh Wan Soo (played by Kim Ha Neul), the son-in-law of the Hwan family, with his personal bodyguard, Seo Do Yoon, who are intertwined.
The chemistry between Rain and actress Kim Ha Neul is also no less interesting and will add to the excitement of the drama's storyline. The mysterious relationship between the employer and his bodyguard will create tension that is a shame to miss. This drama consists of 10 episodes and will air starting July 3, 2024 on the Disney+ streaming platform.
