On August 7, 2024, JTBC aired CCTV footage that claimed to show BTS's Suga in a drunk driving incident. The footage showed a man riding an electric scooter on the main road across from Nine One Hannam. This CCTV immediately spread and became a topic of conversation among netizens.

Several speculations arose due to the CCTV video recording, related to Suga's driving location, Suga not obeying traffic rules, and so on. However, on August 14, 2024, DongA Ilbo, another Korean media outlet, released different and clearer CCTV footage.

In the new footage, it can be seen that Suga was actually riding a scooter on the sidewalk, not on the main road as JTBC previously reported. This discrepancy caused confusion and controversy among the public. On the same day, BigHit Music, Suga's agency, confirmed that the man in the CCTV footage released by DongA Ilbo was indeed Suga.

After CCTV footage from DongA Ilbo was released and BigHiT Music confirmed it, JTBC quietly deleted their original video without any clarification or apology. This action sparked anger from fans and netizens who demanded an explanation and an official apology from JTBC.

Many were angry because JTBC was seen as not taking responsibility for the mistake. Netizens questioned JTBC's credibility as a news outlet, and demanded that they immediately issue an official apology. However, on August 15, 2024, on their evening news broadcast, JTBC finally admitted.

That the CCTV footage they previously aired was false. They clarified that after further investigation by the police, it was confirmed that the man in the video they released was not Suga.  JTBC stated that the footage belonged to another person who happened to be driving at almost the same time as Suga, but at a different location.

It was not until August 16, 2024, that JTBC issued an official apology. In a statement broadcast on the evening news, JTBC stated, "We reported on the DUI incident involving BTS member Suga on August 7, 2024." "In the first part of our  report , we showed CCTV footage showing an electric scooter driving on a main road.

Later, through police investigation, it was confirmed that the man in the video was not Suga. We apologize for any confusion caused."  This apology comes after immense pressure from the public, who felt that JTBC should have acted more quickly in addressing the error.

Although JTBC has admitted their mistake, many feel that this incident should not have happened if they had done a more thorough check before airing the CCTV footage. Currently, Suga is still undergoing legal proceedings regarding the DUI (driving under influence) case involving him.

According to initial reports, Suga was found fallen in his home area on the night of the incident. The test results showed that his blood alcohol level was 0.227 percent, which is well over the legal limit. The case is under further investigation by authorities, and the public is waiting for further developments.
