Lovely Runner is now available on Netflix. Watch Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon in the most talked about romantic comedy of the year after Queen of Tears. Just barely entering the watch list on the platform, Lovely Runner has immediately ranked #1 as the most watched Korean drama for the past week.
This is quite an achievement considering that the drama is not one that has just aired and its spoilers are already everywhere. Viewed Monday August 5, 2024, Lovely Runner is in the #1 position of the most watched TV show on Netflix by Indonesian customers.
Another Korean drama, Miss Night and Day, is in the #4 position followed by Sweet Home in the #5 position. The Korean drama Eve starring Seo Yea Ji (which also just entered Netflix) is no less attention-grabbing. This Korean drama specifically for adults is in the #7 position of the most popular Korean dramas throughout the past week.
Now back to Lovely Runner, there is a reason why this drama is so popular among teenage viewers. One of them is because the characters are very relatable to K-Pop fans. The Korean drama Lovely Runner begins with the introduction of the character Im Sol who is a big fan of a singer named Ryu Sunjae played by Byeon Woo Seok.
As a big fan, Im Sol knows everything about Sunjae and is willing to do anything for her idol. Despite her current condition as a person with disabilities, Im Sol is still willing to sacrifice her energy and time for Sunjae. In Im Sol's room there are many ECLIPSE band merchandise and Sunjae as her bias.
Whenever she has free time, she always makes time to surf the internet looking for the latest photos of her idol. Im Sol even joined a chat group with fellow Sunjae fans and did reog alone in her room when she saw photos of her idol that were considered sexy.
There was even a moment at the beginning of the episode after the ECLIPSE concert ended, Im Sol and Sunjae met face to face. Sunjae gave an umbrella to Im Sol who was pedaling her wheelchair on the side of the road.
From a fan's perspective, Im Sol is the luckiest one! It seems like her luck for the next decades has been spent in the scene of meeting Sunjae on stage. I'm sure, deep inside the hearts of K-Pop fans, there is a desire to meet their idols accidentally and without being bothered by bodyguards and other fans.
The depiction of Im Sol as a fan in the Korean drama Lovely Runner, although overly romanticized, feels so relatable to K-Pop fans. Im Sol's story is the imagination of almost all K-Pop fans towards their idols. But of course only in the exciting parts!
