BIGHIT Music as the agency announced that J-Hope's mandatory military service will officially end on Thursday October 17, 2024. The news was conveyed directly by BTS's agency through an official statement uploaded on Weverse on Monday October 14, 2024.
J-Hope's military service is confirmed to end after the musician has completed his duties for 18 months, starting from April 18, 2023. "Hello, this is BIGHIT Music. With excitement, we are announcing the news of J-Hope completing his military service," BIGHIT Music wrote. "J-Hope is almost done with his military service and will soon be discharged," the agency continued.
BIGHIT then confirmed that there would be no special event when J-Hope officially completed his military service. Fans who are familiarly called ARMY were even asked not to visit J-Hope's military service location to avoid crowds and traffic jams. BIGHIT Music then asked for ARMY's warm welcome and support after J-Hope finished his military service.
The agency also ensured that it will continue to provide the best support for J-Hope. "There are no special events planned for the day of J-Hope's discharge. To prevent problems arising from overcrowding, fans are strongly advised not to visit the location," BIGHIT Music said.
"We are always grateful for your continued love and support for J-Hope. The agency will continue to do its best to support our artist," BIGHIT Music continued. The musician whose full name is Jung Ho-seok is the second BTS member to complete his military service after Jin on June 12, 2024.
J-Hope began his military service in April 2023 by undergoing five weeks of basic military training before being sent to a designated regular unit. J-Hope just turned 29 on February 18. Meanwhile, in South Korea, men aged 18-28 are required to serve two years in the military according to the Military Service Act of 2020.
On the other hand, the remaining five BTS members are still carrying out their obligations and are expected to complete their military service by June 2025. If all BTS members have completed their national duties, they are expected to make a comeback and be active in group activities in the same year.
