The news of Liam Payne's death has not only caused grief in the music world. The world of football has also felt the loss of the former One Direction member. Liam Payne is claimed to be a supporter of West Bromwich Albion, a club that currently competes in the Championship Division or the second level of the English Premier League competition.

Quoted from beIN Sports, Liam Payne has been a West Brom fan since a young age. The man who was born in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England always makes time to watch the team nicknamed The Baggies if his schedule allows. 

The frontman of British talent show The X Factor even received a special gift from West Brom seven years ago.  A gift from West Brom was a jersey with the number one on the back with the name Bear, the child from Liam Payne's relationship with Cheryl Cole, who was born in 2017. 

Like reciprocated love, West Bromwich Albion did not fail to express their condolences for the death of Liam Payne, who fell from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Argentina on Wednesday October 16, 2024. "We are deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Baggies fan and musician Liam Payne. 

Our thoughts are with Liam's family, friends and loved ones at this tragic time," tweeted the X West Bromwich Albion account. Not only a West Brom and football fan, Liam Payne has also competed on the field in two editions of the Soccer Aid charity match in 2022 and 2023, for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Liam Payne's death has also hit Soccer Aid hard. Through its official X account, Soccer Aid expressed its loss and condolences for the passing of the father of one. "Everyone at Soccer Aid for UNICEF is devastated to hear of the passing of Liam Payne. 

Liam captained England in 2022 and returned for the 2023 games to play for a second time. Thank you for all you have done to help support children around the world, Liam," wrote the X Soccer Aid account along with a love emoji. 

According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, Liam Payne died of internal and external bleeding after falling from the third floor balcony of the Casa Sur Palermo Hotel, Buenos Aires, Argentina on Wednesday October 16, 2024 evening local time. 

This was stated by Alberto Crescenti (head of SAME, the Buenos Aires public emergency medical services system), referring to the autopsy results which showed that the injuries to Liam Payne's head were sufficient to cause his death.
