Mr. Plankton is the latest Netflix original Korean drama, which stars Woo Do Hwan and Lee Yoo Mi as one of the main actors. Ahead of its premiere, the production team has leaked the characters they will play. This drama was written by Jo Yong, who has produced the hit work It's Okay to Not Be Okay, then directed by director Hong Jong Chan who produced the works Juvenile Justice and Dear My Friends.

Carrying the romantic comedy genre, the drama Mr. Plankton will depict the story of people who cannot mix or connect with anyone, just like plankton. The series will follow the journey of a man named Hae Jo, who was born by accident, as he is accompanied by a woman named Jae Mi, who is the unhappiest woman in the world.

On her last journey, Hae Jo unexpectedly reunites with her ex-boyfriend Jae Mi. They are pursued by Eoh Heung, a loyal groom, and Beom Ho Ja who is a wonderful mother from a prominent family. The unique qualities of these characters spark curiosity about the story they will create together.

Photos released via Instagram @netflixkr, showing the newly released characters are raising anticipation, especially the appearance of Hae Jo as an uninvited guest at Jae Mi and Eoh Heung's wedding. Her blank stare in the rain and the smile she gives Jae Mi add layers to her character and deepen the intrigue. Woo Do Hwan stated, “Hae Jo is a free soul above all else,” as quoted from Soompi On October 17, 2024.

He emphasized his desire to effectively portray Hae Jo's cheerful nature. Jae Mi unexpectedly joins Hae Jo on her journey after her surprising appearance, leading her to face her true self. Meanwhile, Lee Yoo Mi described Jae Mi as “like a flower that blooms amidst misfortune.

He is a friend who treats every moment sincerely and lives honestly.” He added, “Jae Mi finds comfort in Hae Jo, who helps him in his struggles. I hope the detailed emotions he experiences in various situations can be conveyed clearly.” In another photo, Eoh Heung's pursuit of Hae Jo and Jae Mi adds another layer of intrigue.

As a loyal groom who promised his love by giving Jae Mi flower shoes, Eoh Heung loses his bride on what was supposed to be her dream wedding day. This loss leads him on a pursuit that feels like his first adventure. Oh Jung Se emphasized that “Eoh Heung is a character who experiences everything for the first time,” noting that love, pursuit, conflict, and even his own life are new to him.

Meanwhile, Eoh Heung's mother, Beom Ho Ja, who is the fifth generation heir of a prestigious family, also attracts attention. When her future daughter-in-law, Jae Mi, goes missing, Beom Ho Ja takes drastic action. Played by the talented Kim Hae Sook, Beom Ho Ja adds depth to her character through a nuanced performance that balances serious moments with touches of comedy.

Meanwhile, Director Hong Jong Chan shared his deep appreciation, saying, “This is the most blessed casting in my directing career. Every actor sincerely gave their best in their performances.” His remarks raised expectations for an impressive ensemble performance from the cast. Netflix's original Korean drama, Mr. Plankton, will premiere on November 8, 2024.
