Kim Hye Soo and Jung Sung Il were invited to attend the Disney Content Showcase APAC 2024 on November 21, 2024. On that occasion, the two actors discussed their drama titled "Unmasked" which will soon be released by Disney+.
"Unmasked" is a drama centered around an investigative reporting crew that continuously tracks cases that prosecutors and police cannot solve. In the drama, Hye Soo plays the role of the team leader named Oh So Ryong.
Regarding the drama, Hye Soo said, "We included realistic episodes, including fake news. We tried to lighten the tone with wit and take away some of the burden. Each episode has a different atmosphere."
"Although we aimed to make the messages easier and more fun to understand, the story we wanted to convey was still strong and clear," he added. Hye Soo also revealed the serious injury she suffered on set. "On a very cold winter day, I had to do a very physically intense scene. I tore my right thigh muscle while running.
I thought we could at least film my face because my leg was injured, but it turned out to be impossible. I remember resetting everything and filming again. The scene ended up looking very dynamic," he said. Hye Soo did not forget to praise her co-star, Sung Il.
"Sung Il is basically bright and sincere. His portrayal in his previous work, 'The Glory', felt like a result of pure acting. In this project, you will see another side of him, it may reflect aspects of his personality, but it is also completely new," she praised.
Hye Soo revealed that the cast and crew were also captivated by Sung Il. "He is a much better actor than I expected. At first, he impressed everyone with his intense presence. The entire cast and crew were captivated by his face and gaze," she added.
Meanwhile, Hye Soo received praise from the director who said, "Her character's assertiveness and drive fit her natural personality perfectly. She is very straightforward and transparent, a truly sincere person." The drama "Unmasked" is scheduled to air around 2025.
