Former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin has officially left the label she founded under HYBE. The conceptor of K-pop group NewJeans also resigned from HYBE following her feud with Bang Si Hyuk for the past seven months.
The news of Min Hee Jin's departure shocked the public, especially fans of the K-Pop group NewJeans. In an official statement released on Wednesday November 20, 2024, Min Hee Jin emphasized that she would take legal action and protect the personnel of the K-Pop group NewJeans from HYBE.
The decision was taken by Min Hee Jin after doing everything possible to maintain the shareholder agreement and restore ADOR to its original state. On Tuesday August 27, 2024, Min Hee Jin was unilaterally dismissed from his position as CEO and demoted to internal director who focuses on producing NewJeans music.
He was replaced by a new CEO, Kim Joo Young, who is a candidate for the HYBE company. "I am resigning from my position as internal director of ADOR today. I will also terminate my shareholder agreement and hold HYBE accountable for violations of the agreement.
I will also take legal action against various illegal actions committed by HYBE and its executives." "I hope HYBE will admit its mistake and I will work tirelessly to protect NewJeans from HYBE. That is why I sent two internal emails twice in April."
"To this day, HYBE continues to use its subsidiary labels to file unreasonable lawsuits and engage in media play, while at the same time, trying to bury me through contracts full of toxic clauses as if they are doing me a huge favor," Min Hee Jin said, as reported by Koreaboo.
In her statement, Min Hee Jin did not forget to thank Bunnies (the name for fans of the KPop group NewJeans) who have given a lot of support. Considering that the feud between Min Hee Jin and HYBE also affected the five members of the KPop group NewJeans: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
On Wednesday November 13, 2024, NewJeans gave ADOR an ultimatum to respond to their demands after committing a number of violations of the artist's rights in the exclusive contract. If ADOR does not fulfill NewJeans personnel's demands within 14 days, they will terminate their exclusive contract.
After releasing the official statement, Min Hee Jin uploaded a photo of a happy-looking rabbit holding a card that said “quit” or “resign.” She also shared a song titled “Free” on her Instagram Story.
Now, many Korean netizens are showing their support for Min Hee Jin through online community forums. "Even her resignation meme is aesthetic, I support you," "Min Hee Jin, NewJeans, I support you and everything will be fine!" wrote a number of Korean netizens.
