GOT7’s Park Jin Young graces the 2025 New Year edition of THE STAR magazine, crafting a distinctive winter pictorial that captures his ethereal charm, showcasing his evolution between boyhood and manhood.

Fresh from completing his mandatory military service, Park opened up about his experience: “It’s not easy for someone to wait a year and a half. I wanted to say thank you once again for consistently sending messages of love. Everyone said I must have had a hard time.

While there were difficult moments, I spent such happy times with my fellow soldiers that I wonder if I’ll ever have such a healing period again in my life. I got emotional thinking about how I successfully completed this chapter as a Korean man.”

Describing his military service as a time of growth, Park shared, “I learned that there are many types of people in the world and it’s okay not to live by set rules. If I was more rigid in my thinking before, after military service, I’ve realized there are various ways to live.

I learned to be more flexible about life rather than insisting on just one way.” The idol-actor revealed his packed post-military schedule: “I’m currently filming a drama while preparing for our GOT7 album. Also, a drama I filmed before enlistment will air soon, so I’m keeping busy.”

That very set drama, The Witch, marks his comeback project, where he plays a character willing to risk his life to protect his loved one. When asked what he would protect with his life in reality, Park simply answered, “Family and my people.”

On the topic of love, he offered a poetic perspective: “Love is like air. You can’t see or touch air. But we know we’d die without it, right? There are so many forms of love—love for family, love for friends, and romantic kind of love. I think we can live because all these invisible connections of love exist.”

Discussing GOT7’s first full group reunion in three years, Park shared, “When we met after so long, the members made me feel like I was back in my early 20s. Just meeting them makes me excited, and I felt so proud seeing how they’ve grown and are making their own music.

While group activities are finite and we’ll eventually do individual activities, I’m really excited about creating fun memories with fans until that point.” He added with playful affection, “Honestly, it’s not like we’re gathering to release an album—it’s more like we’re releasing an album to gather.”

He also gave a big spoiler, revealing “all our members wrote songs” for the upcoming release. When asked to complete the sentence “Park Jin Young is ___,” he chose “freedom.” Calling himself “limitless,” he further described, “Someone free with passion to do anything,” adding, “I want to keep changing and live well, and I know I will.”
