Korean drama ' When the Stars Gossip ' has ended its final episode. Unfortunately, the rating for this drama actually dropped to an average of 2.6 percent according to AGB Nielsen South Korea. Although in the last episode the drama recorded the highest viewer rating of 3.9%, it dropped to around 1%.
The decline in real-time ratings occurred because the storyline felt confusing and did not match the audience's expectations. Eve Kim (Gong Hyo Jin) surprisingly finds out that she is pregnant in space. After much consideration, she finally chooses to give birth to her child in space and risks her life.
Even though there was another option to save her life but sacrifice her fetus. All of her colleagues begged Eve Kim to come down to earth for her safety. But she chose to give birth to her daughter and leave Gong Ryeong (Lee Min Ho) forever.
Quoting from Star News on Tuesday February 25, 2025, Gong Hyo Jin expressed her thoughts on the ending of the drama 'When the Stars Gossip' through her agency's YouTube channel Management Soop. She explained her opinion on the decision of the character she plays.
First, Gong Hyo Jin admitted that filming for the drama was tough, saying, " During those 10 months, there were days when I thought, 'Is this a lie?' and wanted to give up. For the first time in my life, and the first time in over 20 dramas, I felt that way. All of those hardships appeared before my eyes ."
" I feel like all my hopes have come true just by the fact that 'When the Stars Gossip' came out after a long period of filming and post-production, " he expressed his relief after the drama ended its run. " As an actor, I was attracted to the novelty of the story and succeeded so far.
I hope that viewers will enjoy the new storyline as much as I did and fully experience the diversity of Korean drama genres. I sincerely thank the viewers who loved 'When the Stars Gossip,' which is unconventional yet honest, " he continued regarding the drama's unusual ending.
Previously, the drama received criticism from the audience because the storyline was considered difficult. In the end, the drama ended with an unusual happy ending , making outer space a grave and a womb for Eve Kim.
