Kim Jong Min was a guest star on the TV program "Radio Star" on February 5, 2025. On that occasion, the actor opened up about the difficult times he experienced as a member of "2 Days & 1 Night", a TV program he has been a part of for 18 years.

The preview of the episode shows Jong Min talking about the tough challenges he faced in returning to the show after completing his alternative military service. "I'm really looking forward to appearing on the show again while fulfilling my duty," he said.

"However, when I first returned to filming, things didn't go as smoothly as I had imagined. The other members felt awkward around me. The atmosphere on set made me so shy that I started to hesitate before speaking," added Jong Min.

"Every time I spoke, a tense silence filled the air, this phenomenon lasted for two years," the comedian continued. Jong Min also recalled the moment when he was demanded by the viewers of "2 Days & 1 Night" to leave the program.

"Then, a national petition appeared asking me to leave the show. The graph showing the number of people who agreed continued to grow. I slowly fell into a deep pit of despair. Many offered to help, but I was in such a bad situation that I couldn't accept it," Jong Min said. Because of the demands, Jong Min thought about leaving.

"'Should I leave the show?', that thought crossed my mind. But it seemed like my life would be over if I did. So, I decided to stay," he continued. When Jong Min intended to stay, apparently there was already a discussion among the "2 Days & 1 Night" staff regarding the desire to remove him.

"After a few years, things started to improve. I heard that I was talked about leaving, but it didn't happen because producer Na Young-seok fought for me," added Jong Min expressing his gratitude. In the end, Jong Min was actually fired from "2 Days & 1 Night" season 3.

"After receiving the notice (of dismissal), I decided to leave," he revealed. However, the production team offered him to join season 4. "However, the production team contacted me and invited me back. I asked Kang Ho Dong for his opinion, he is the person I always rely on when there is a problem.

After considering it carefully, he advised me to accept the offer," he said. Jong Min finally agreed to join "2 Days & 1 Night" season 4. "So, the next day, I contacted the production and said I would rejoin the show. The whole situation was very painful for me, but now I am grateful," concluded Jong Min.
