Some time ago Seo In Guk and BLACKPINK's Jisoo received offers to star in a drama together. Netflix announced that they have confirmed the casting of Jisoo and Seo In Guk. Through an upload on Netflix's official Instagram on February 20, 2025, @netflixkr announced the production of its latest original series titled 'Monthly Boyfriend'.
Featuring Jisoo and Seo In Guk as the main characters of the series. Quoting from SBS Entertainment News, on Thursday February 20, 2025 'Monthly Boyfriend' is a romantic comedy series about a webtoon PD named Seo Mi Rae. In the midst of her success, she feels bored with real life.
She then tries to feel romance by subscribing to a boyfriend through a virtual dating simulation. The interesting point of this series is about the unusual setting of a romance subscription in the virtual world. How Netflix will present this as a fresh watch is worth looking forward to.
Jisoo will play the character Seo Mi Rae, a webtoon PD who dreams of having a romantic relationship again. Previously, she was only busy with work and tired without feeling a relationship that made her heart flutter. She then enters the virtual world through the 'Monthly Boyfriend' device she received by chance.
Through the romance with men who are beyond perfect in the virtual world, the romantic cells that Mi Rae had forgotten are awakened. Seo In Guk plays Park Kyung Nam, a webtoon PD who is Seo Mi Rae's co-worker and rival. Park Kyung Nam is known as a hard worker at his workplace.
However, he is also a heartless and slightly selfish person. For Seo Mi Rae, Park Kyung Nam is the person who makes her uncomfortable and the one she wants to avoid the most. However, the two of them get caught up in a virtual dating service that creates an unexpected development in their relationship.
