James Foley, a film director who directed many Hollywood films, was confirmed to have died this week at his home. Foley's representative revealed that the director had brain cancer and had been undergoing treatment for the past year.

Foley died at his home in Los Angeles, United States. He was a director who directed many films starring in Hollywood. He grew up in Brooklyn and began making films in 1984 with Reckless. He also directed Sean Penn in At Close Range.

Thanks to Penn's then-married relationship with Madonna, James Foley directed several of Madonna's music videos, including Who's That Girl, Live to Tell , and True Blue. Foley used a pseudonym to direct her music videos. His name began to be reckoned with after he directed Al Pacino in the film Glengarry Glen Ross. 

Thanks to this film, Pacino received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations. He made many noir-themed films which became the main genre in his stories. Foley directed two sequels to the film Fifty Shades of Grey starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan.

In addition, he also directed 12 episodes of the series House of Cards as well as Twin Peaks, Billions, Wayward Pines , and Hannibal. James Foley is survived by two sisters, one brother and one nephew. James Foley died at the age of 71.
