Lee Minho admitted he was afraid to accept the role in the film Omniscient Reader. In the star-studded film, he was cast to play the character Yoo Joong Hyuk. In an interview with the Korea Times, the Boys Over Flowers actor explained his fear.
It turned out to be related to the popularity of the web novel Omniscient Reader, which has long been beloved by readers. "This IP is truly amazing, it's already so deeply loved. I spent a lot of time discussing this from start to finish because I wanted to be very careful," he said, as reported on Tuesday (July 15, 2025).
Lee Minho finally overcame those fears. He accepted the role and has already completed filming the action sequences. Yoo Joong Hyuk's character in the film was the main reason he finally signed on to star in Omniscient Reader. The fictional character really captured Lee Minho's attention.
Set in a fantasy world on the brink of destruction, Omniscient Reader will feature extensive visual effects and CGI, combined with practical sets. FYI guys, during the filming process as Yoo Joong Hyuk, Lee Minho had to act alone without other actors/actresses like Ahn Hyo Seop, BLACKPINK's Jisoo, and Nana.
"It feels lonely. But strangely, I'm actually used to it. Seeing other actors/actresses in relationships from afar, I feel really envious. But on the other hand, that emotion suits Yoo Joong Hyuk," he continued. In his action scenes, Lee Minho often wore a harness.
It's a special suit with ropes or chains for flying or levitating scenes. He was in so many harness scenes that he was convinced he could sleep while hanging from a harness. He's really something! Omniscient Reader will be released in South Korean theaters starting July 23, 2025.
