Lee Chae Min faced new challenges in the drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty. This drama marks his first time starring opposite Im YoonA. "(It was my first time acting in a sageuk), yes, I felt pressured because I was playing a king, but there were many senior actors like YoonA who helped me.
I really enjoyed filming," said Lee Chae Min at the Bon Appetit, Your Majesty press conference on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. Lee Chae Min plays King Yi Heon, a king who is very strict about food in the palace so that he becomes a burden among the palace employees.
"Yi Heon can seem dorky, sometimes he's dimensional. He sees Ji Yeong (YoonA's character) as a stranger at first, like a ghost, but he has a sense of curiosity," Chae Min said of her character. "I watched mukbang videos to film the eating scenes and tried to control my facial expressions.
The director did a great job, too," he said. Apart from acting, Lee Chae Min also felt the challenge of doing many scenes both inside and outside the palace. "I was so full after eating on set. Another challenge was, because I'm the king, I thought I'd be stuck in the palace all the time, but I got out," Chae Min continued.
"I love getting out of the palace and running, fighting, and in the palace, I have to eat. Why is this king always doing things and getting out of the palace? It's very difficult for him. I think that's the most intriguing and interesting aspect of the character as a king," said Lee Chae Min.
The Korean drama Bon Appetit, Your Majesty tells the story of a modern chef who is thrown into the past and is required to become a royal chef. He tried to soften the king's heart with his cooking. Bon Appetit, Your Majesty will be released on Netflix starting August 23, 2025.
