tvN has set an October 11th premiere date for its upcoming drama 'Typhoon Family.' The network also released a new poster, giving a first look at the star’s transformation into a ’90s youth.
The drama is a coming-of-age story set during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, a major historical event that deeply impacted South Korea. Junho plays Kang Tae Poong, the carefree son of a successful businessman who has never known hardship.
His freewheeling life comes to an abrupt end when the crisis hits, and he is suddenly forced to become the president of his family’s crumbling trading company, responsible for the livelihoods of its employees.
The new poster captures Tae Poong in his prime before the crisis hits, with highlighted hair and a cool gaze as he leans out of a car window. The show’s tagline, “Our unbreakable youth in those days,” hints at the passionate journey ahead as he is forced to grow up and fight for survival.
“The poster showcases a naive youth who, before facing the harsh IMF period, enjoyed the wealth and freedom of his parents’ generation,” the production team stated. “However, beneath this facade lies the impending, typhoon-like crisis of the era.”
They added that the drama aims to “capture the fierce spirit of the times and deliver a message of passionate hope.” Typhoon Family will premiere on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 9:20 PM KST.
