Tom Holland is confirmed to be taking a week off the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day after suffering an injury on Friday September 19, 2025. Sony executives held a meeting on Monday (September 22, 2025) to determine the next steps.
As a result, production on the film was decided to be suspended for a full week. Fortunately, this filming hiatus won't impact the film's release schedule. Sony confirmed that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will still be released on July 31, 2026.
Previously, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Tom Holland had suffered a mild concussion after hitting his head while performing an action scene. Despite this, the 29-year-old actor still managed to attend the charity event for The Brothers Trust last Saturday, the foundation he runs with his brothers.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and the upcoming Wonder Man series. Several old names return, such as Zendaya (MJ) and Jacob Batalon (Ned). Other big Marvel stars include Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Jon Bernthal (Punisher).
Meanwhile, Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), Tramell Tillman (Severance), and Michael Mando, reprising his role as Scorpion from Homecoming (2017), also join the cast. Like the previous three Spider-Man films, Brand New Day is a co-production between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures.
This collaboration has already proven to be a huge success. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) even became Sony's highest-grossing film of all time with revenues reaching 1.91 billion US dollars, while Far From Home (2019) made history as the first Spider-Man film to break the 1 billion dollar mark.
