A woman in her 40s has been arrested by Seoul police after breaking into the private residence of BTS's Jung Kook on Saturday August 30, 2025. This incident is the second in recent months targeting members of the K-pop group, highlighting the problem of obsessive fans, or "sasaengs."

According to the Yongsan Police Station, the woman was arrested around 11:20 p.m. local time. She managed to enter the underground parking lot of Jungkook's apartment by following an incoming vehicle.

A security guard monitoring the footage via CCTV immediately reported the incident to the authorities. During questioning, the woman reportedly gave inconsistent statements, claiming that she was “visiting a friend’s house.”

Police are currently conducting further investigations to uncover the motive behind her actions. This incident isn't the first of its kind. Last June, a Chinese woman in her 30s also attempted to break into the same property on the day Jungkook completed his military service.

The woman was caught red-handed by police while trying to enter the door code and has been handed over to prosecutors. These cases highlight the risks K-pop idols face from sasaeng fans who violate their privacy.

Under South Korea's anti-stalking law, which took effect in 2021, perpetrators can face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million won. If the act involves weapons or dangerous objects, the penalty can be increased to five years in prison or a fine of up to 50 million won.
