Park Bo Gum officially announced his latest acting project, the latest historical film (sageuk) 'Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land' (literal title) when he appeared as a surprise guest on the SBS PowerFM radio show 'Cultwo Show' on October 9, 2025.
On the show, Park Bo Gum shared about his preparations for his new project. "I'm preparing for a new work and had to grow my hair long for filming. It's a historical drama," he said, sparking enthusiasm among the audience.
When asked by host Kwak Beom about the role he will be playing, Park Bo Gum replied, “I will be playing a character who wears a hanbok.” He then revealed that the film is 'Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land,' in which he will play Prince Anpyeong, the third son of King Sejong of the Joseon Dynasty.
"This character loves art and music very much," he added. DJ Kim Tae Gyun jokingly asked, “Is there any romance in it?” Park Bo Gum meaningfully replied, “Romance in the heart.”
This statement further piqued fans’ curiosity about the emotional dynamics that will be portrayed in the film. The film 'Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land' is inspired by an iconic landscape painting by painter An Gyeon from 1447 (the 29th year of King Sejong's reign).
The painting was created based on a dream of Prince Anpyeong, An Gyeon's loyal protector. In his dream, the prince visited a utopia resembling a peach garden, which he then described to An Gyeon to describe.
This work is a significant monument to the history of early Joseon art and culture, complete with 23 introductory notes, poems, and the highly acclaimed calligraphy of Prince Anpyeong. The film centers on the conflict between King Sejong's two sons, Prince Suyang and Prince Anpyeong.
The main plot revolves around the historical event of Gyeyujeongnan, in which Prince Suyang staged a bloody coup d'état, killing dozens of senior officials supporting King Danjong, including Hwangbo In and Kim Jong Seo, to seize power.
The charismatic actor Kim Nam Gil will play Prince Suyang. 'Dream Journey to the Peach Blossom Land' is directed by Jang Hoon, whose previous success with 'A Taxi Driver' reached 10 million viewers.
With the combined talents of Park Bo Gum and Kim Nam Gil, along with the vision of a renowned director, this film is predicted to be one of the most anticipated works in the Korean film industry.
