Legendary singer Ed Sheeran recently surprised fans with a radically different look. The "Shape of You" singer appeared in public with a shaved head, ditching his signature ginger hair. It turns out this drastic change was related to his declining health.
Ed revealed that he had just been battling Herpes Zoster (shingles) which he had been suffering from for the past month. In his latest post, the British musician warned his followers about the discomfort of the condition. However, he assured that he is currently in a good recovery.
“I’ve been suffering from shingles for the past month, wouldn’t recommend it, but it’s getting better now,” Ed Sheeran wrote in his official statement. Regarding his decision to cut off his hair, Ed explained that the act had deep philosophical significance.
For him, shaving his hair was a way to mark a new chapter after a difficult period. "Yes, I shaved my head. I wanted to shave it to mark a new beginning. There are so many new beginnings in my life right now. I like the idea of keeping it this way," he concluded optimistically.
Herpes zoster, or commonly known as snake pox or fire pox in Indonesia, is a viral infection of the skin and nerves. Reactivation of the Varicella-zoster virus (the same virus that causes chickenpox). This disease only occurs in people who have previously had chickenpox.
Symptoms include a painful rash of fluid-filled blisters, usually on one side of the body. Sufferers often experience burning pain, itching, tingling, fever, and sensitivity to light. The rash usually dries up within 7-10 days and heals completely within 2 to 4 weeks.
It's generally triggered by a weakened immune system due to stress, chronic fatigue, or other underlying health conditions. Now, with his new look, Ed Sheeran looks fresher and ready to return to his work in the global music industry.
