Netflix has just released a poster and teaser for its latest occult series, The East Palace. In the series, Nam Joo Hyuk plays Gu Cheon, who has the ability to traverse the human and spirit worlds, alongside Saeng Gang (Roh Yoon Seo), a court lady with a secret.
The two are summoned by the King (Cho Seung Woo) to uncover the mystery surrounding the cursed palace. The released poster shows Gu Cheon, the 'spirit catcher,' standing solemnly with a sword in his hand within a palace shrouded in dark clouds.
The collapsed stone lantern, the vines seemingly melting under a curse, and the eerie energy surrounding him depict the atmosphere of the spirit world Gu Cheon traverses. The teaser begins with Gu Cheon being summoned to the palace. When the King summons him, Gu Cheon senses the deep hatred and resentment lingering around him.
He then declares, "I will go into the Realm of Gwi and seek the spirits out," and to dispel the vengeful spirits, he steps through the pond and crosses over to the spirit world. In another world filled with dark aura and blood, Gu Cheon swings his sword and warns, "Those who sin are punished eventually."
Meanwhile, Saeng Gang, the lady-in-waiting in the real world, is seen smearing blood on her forehead, while the mysterious phenomena faced by the King and Queen Consort ( Jang Young Nam ) alternate, adding to the suspense in the story.
Amidst a brutal curse plaguing the palace, curiosity grows as to whether they can survive and uncover the secrets hidden in the darkness. The East Palace is scheduled to premiere exclusively on Netflix on July 17, 2026.
