NCT's Doyoung recently made a breakthrough by donating 100 million won to support mental health and suicide prevention efforts. This significant donation, announced by the Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention, is intended to help South Korean soldiers facing crisis situations and children and adolescents who have lost family members to suicide.
Doyoung's participation in this project as a life ambassador for the "Thousand Life Keeper Project" demonstrates his commitment to mental health issues. This national project aims to reduce the suicide rate by 1,000 people by 2026.
According to the foundation, Doyoung felt called to help soldiers serving the country and teenagers struggling with profound loss. The Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention plans to collaborate with relevant organizations to ensure that the support provided is practical and effective.
Doyoung also shared a heartfelt message with his fans, "One thing I often tell my fans is, 'Tomorrow will definitely be happier than today.' Sometimes, one day feels a little heavy and difficult, but I believe that in the end, tomorrow will move one step closer to a warmer and happier direction than today."
He continued, "I hope my support can be conveyed through this donation, and that it will be a force that helps everyone find courage." This statement reflects Doyoung's concern for his fans and the general public. Jung Yoon Soon, chairman of the Korea Foundation for Suicide Prevention, also expressed her gratitude to Doyoung.
She stated that this donation will be a valuable "lifeline" to reconnect people in desperate situations with society. She promised that the foundation will strive to ensure this donation reaches those who need it most.
Meanwhile, Doyoung himself is currently undergoing mandatory military service as an active-duty soldier since December 8th of last year. This noble act further demonstrates that behind the glamorous image of a K-Pop idol lies a deep concern for social and humanitarian issues.
