SM Entertainment announced that RIIZE's Shotaro has suffered an ankle injury. Due to this condition, Shotaro's participation in several upcoming activities will be limited. According to his agency's statement on May 7, 2026, Shotaro suffered an injury while performing at an event overseas recently.
A hospital examination revealed that the Japanese singer had torn his ankle ligaments. "He is currently recovering in a semi-cast and undergoing regular outpatient treatment," said an SM Entertainment representative.
Despite his recovery, SM Entertainment stated that Shotaro will still be present at the group's planned activities, including the Incheon National University Festival (May 8, 2026), Kstyle Party in Japan (May 10, 2026), and the Sogang and Soongsil University Festivals (May 14, 2026).
However, he will definitely not be performing the choreography on stage to prevent further injury. This decision was made after the agency discussed it with Shotaro and considered the medical team's advice.
The doctor stated that while Shotaro could continue his daily activities, he should avoid intense dancing and prioritize rest. "We ask for fans' understanding. We will do our best to support our artist's recovery so he can return to health as soon as possible," the statement concluded.
