Lee Jun Young announced his military enlistment plans, scheduled for July 21, 2026. The South Korean actor made the announcement himself through a handwritten letter posted on his personal Instagram account on Sunday (June 14, 2026).
In the post, Lee Jun Young also shared a photo of a pile of crumpled and discarded drafts of the letter. He admitted to having struggled and rewriting the letter up to ten times before finally daring to upload it to his fans.
"Rather than announcing this news through a news article, I thought it would be better if I conveyed it personally, which is why I am writing this letter," Lee Jun Young wrote in his letter.
The actor, currently starring in the drama "Reborn Rookie," revealed that he felt anxious after receiving his official military enlistment date. However, he promised to fulfill his duties well and return in good health.
"I will go and return in good health, remaining myself. Until the day we meet again, I sincerely hope you all stay healthy and spend a happy and meaningful time together," he continued.
Lee Jun Young closed his letter with thanks for the fans' continued support, complete with a witty "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year x 2" at the end of the draft. The actor's entire entertainment schedule will be temporarily suspended starting from the start of his term next month.
