South Korean tech giant, Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones on February 8. The line-up will include the vanilla S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra models. In the latest development, multiple tipsters, including Ishan Agarwal have tipped that the top-end S22 Ultra will also come in a 1TB storage option. However, it will be released only in select regions.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will arrive as Samsung's next-generation flagship smartphone with a combination of S-series' top-tier specifications and Note-series' design and stylus support. Samsung had offered the 1TB storage variant only for the Galaxy S10+ model in 2019. The tech giant is bringing back that option since arch-rival Apple is now providing the 1TB storage option on its iPhone 13 Pro models.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will bear a 6.8-inch QHD+ (1440x3080 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1,750-nits of peak brightness, and HDR10+ support. It will feature a punch-hole design, slim bezels, curved edges, a built-in silo for the S Pen, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The device will also offer Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for display protection.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will sport a 108MP (f/1.8) primary sensor, a 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide lens, a 10MP (f/4.9) periscope telephoto snapper with 10x optical zoom, and a 10MP (f/2.4) telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom. There may be a 40MP (f/2.2) selfie camera. The front and rear cameras will be able to record 4K video at 30/60fps and 8K video at 24fps, respectively. The smartphone pack a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast-charging support
Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1/Exynos 2200 processor, paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. At the heart, tt will boot Android 12-based One UI 4.0 out of the box. For connectivity, the smartphone will offer support for Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, GPS, NFC, 5G, and a Type-C port.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is tipped to cost €1,300 (Rs. 1.1 lakh) for 8GB/128GB model, €1,400 (Rs. 1.18 lakh) for 12GB/256GB variant, and €1,500 (Rs. 1.27 lakh) for 12GB/512GB version in Europe. There are four colour options, including Phantom White, Phantom Black, Burgundy and Green. However, the official pricing and availability details will be announced during launch.
