The Recording Academy revealed why videos of BTS 's performances at the Grammys were removed from its platforms. Previously, it went viral on social media that the musical performances of “Butter” (2021) and “Dynamite” (2022) had been removed from the awards website.

According to speculation among internet users, this occurred after the group announced they would not be submitting their music for the 2027 awards. In response, on August 4, 2026, a representative of The Recording Academy told Korea JoongAng Daily:

“BTS’s past performances were removed from the Grammy website and YouTube years ago as part of the routine expiration of licenses. ” They added: “This is standard practice for Grammy performances, as licensing terms vary and are usually limited to a year or less.”

Meanwhile, in June of this year, the introduction of the “Best Asian Pop Performance” category at the Grammy Awards was announced. However, this sparked mixed reactions from the public.
