Foraying into a new category of products, Chinese tech company OPPO has launched its first-ever tablet, called the OPPO Pad. It has a premium metal-glass construction, a Snapdragon 870 processor, quad speakers, and a 120Hz screen that supports the OPPO Pencil stylus.
In a bid to take on rivals like Samsung, Xiaomi and Lenovo, OPPO has expanded its portfolio of consumer devices with the debut of OPPO Pad: its maiden tablet offering. It is a mid-budget device with a modern design and decent hardware. It should appeal to those who like to consume content on the go as well as students and teachers.
The OPPO Pad has an iPad Pro-like design with slim bezels and flat edges. On the rear, it gets a dual-tone glass panel and a single camera. Talking about the OPPO Pencil, it supports 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The stylus can attach to the tablet magnetically and charges wirelessly, similar to Apple Pencil. On the backside of the tablet, OPPO has included a 13MP primary camera that is good enough for casual photography and scanning documents. For selfies and video calls, there is an 8MP shooter on the front.
Under the hood, the OPPO Pad is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 870 chipset, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage which is not expandable. The tablet runs on Android 11-based ColorOS 12 and offers features such as multi-screen collaboration, quick file transfer, and phone mirroring. It packs quad speakers with Dolby Atmos and an 8,300mAh battery, which supports 33W fast-charging.
For pricing and availability, the OPPO Pad costs CNY 2,299 (roughly Rs. 27,400) for the 6GB/128GB model and CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs. 35,800) for the 8GB/256GB variant.
