Throughout 2021, BLACKPINK members have been busy with solo projects. One of them is Lisa, who made her solo debut through LALISA. Lisa's efforts through her solo debut did not end in vain. At the MTV Video Music Awards 2022, Lisa took home the Best K-Pop award through LALISA.
She managed to beat a number of other K-Pop artists who were nominated in that category. These include SEVENTEEN's HOT, BTS's Yet to Come, ITZY's LOCO, to Stray Kids' MANIAC and TWICE's The Feels. This victory adds a new record in Lisa's career as a K-Pop musician. She became the first K-Pop soloist to win the MTV Video Music Awards.
Coming on stage to receive her award, Lisa couldn't hide her happiness. He also thanked BLINKs to BLACKPINK members who continued to support him. "I want to thank MTV for this great honor. Thank you to everyone who collaborated to realize my solo project. Teddy Oppa, YG Entertainment, thank you for making LALISA a very special song," said Lisa on stage.
"Thank you also to BLINKs, the most important thing. Thank you for making all of this happen. And BLACKPINK , I'm always grateful. I really love you guys. Thank you for liking LALISA," she concluded. Previously, BLACKPINK had brought the Best Metaverse Performance award through BLACKPINK The Virtual, which was a collaboration with PUBG.
They managed to beat BTS, Charli XCX, Ariana Grande, to Twenty One Pilots. BLACKPINK also performed extraordinary when performing the song Pink Venom. This is the first time they have performed the comeback song at the international music award reception event.
